Both the Boys and Girls Cross Country teams are having great seasons thus far. Regionals were at Hoover Park in Sterling last week, where Alec Scott (‘18) placed fourth, and Brandt Lerma (‘17) and Virgil Munyemana (‘18) placed eighth and ninth, respectively. On the Girls Team at last week’s regionals, Jenna Lutzow (‘17), Madison Diercks (‘20), and Gianna Sagona (‘20) all placed in the top five. The IHSA Sectionals are this Saturday, and North seems like they’re ready. After Sectionals, the State Finals are one week from this Saturday, and both teams seem more than prepared for the competition.

And all of this is just capping off what have been amazing years for both teams. There have been consistent top five, top ten finishes at just about every meet this season. Basically, the Cross Country team as a whole has been absolutely amazing. Everything is going well for both the Boys and Girls teams, and it really seems like they have a lot of momentum heading into Sectionals and then State.

Belvidere North is usually good in most sports, but they’ve been especially outstanding in cross country this year. We’ve had three consecutive first place finishes from 2009 to 2011. In 2016, it seems like North is ready for a fourth first place finish.
