Roll n’ Donuts comes to Belvidere

Roll n' Donuts comes to Belvidere

Anna Hulstedt, Reporter

Everyone loves a fresh, fluffy, sugar glazed, sprinkle coated donut. Donuts are known to bring happiness to families, teams, and friends across the country. Luckily for the donut lovers of Belvidere, a new donut shop, Roll n’ Donuts, just opened a little over a week ago.

Belvidere also has a Dunkin Donuts attached to the Walmart on the other side of town. They do have a great variety of donuts, coffee, and other baked goods, but the location isn’t too convenient for people who live close to North. The new place offers a large selection in a more accessible location in the middle of town.

Prices are comparable between the two shops; Dunkin Donuts charges $9.99 for a dozen, while Roll n’ Donuts charges $10.65. You can also get a baker’s dozen (13 donuts) on Tuesdays through Thursdays for the same price.

Roll n’ Donuts has a couple other locations in Illinois, including Algonquin, Lockport, and Elgin. The new shop is located where the old Tom and Jerry’s used to be. Tom and Jerry’s just moved down the street to a larger building.

The hours are from 5 am to 12 pm on Tuesday through Friday, and from 5 am to 2 pm on the weekends. Besides being closed on Mondays, they are open every other day of the year, including holidays.

Roll n’ Donuts has a very large selection of donuts to choose from, including glazed, long Johns, jelly filled, Boston Kreme, Apple Fritter, Cinnamon Roll, cake donuts, sprinkles, donut holes, Cronuts, Maple Bacon, and more. Other products sold there include coffee, hot chocolate, cappuccino, iced coffee, iced tea, bagels, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, and english muffins.

One downside to Roll n’ Donuts is that they only have one baker to make all of the donuts and baked goods, and their baker stays from closing time to opening time baking. Roll n’ Donuts is currently looking for another baker to help with all of the donuts. Many people that have gone to Roll n’ Donuts suggest going early because the selection runs out quickly. Despite their low baking staff, however, one should definitely try Roll n’ Donuts, as it has a great selection and decent prices.

Bella Kazluski (‘20) says, “I tried the glazed donuts and they were really good! They were probably some of the best glazed donuts I’ve ever eaten”.
