Stroll on State is an annual holiday festival that the city of Rockford puts on every year. This was the 5th year that the event has gone on. There was a parade, various different performers, vendors, fireworks and sponsors.

When you arrive at the event there is no charge to get in, you just park and start walking. Walking through the decorated streets Stroll on State has music, food, and  many photo opportunities. There are also horse and wagon rides that they have so people don’t have to walk. Santa’s Village is a big amusement there. It is right on the river and people, mostly kids, have the opportunity to take pictures with santa and his elves. Another one of the biggest things going on is the tree lighting. There is a huge christmas tree and people gather around to see it get lit.

Mya Carlton (‘19) said, “I have gone to Stroll on State for the past two years. It is sort of becoming a tradition now for me to go every year. I enjoy it because it kicks off the holiday season and gets everyone in the mood for Christmas.”

Overall Stroll on State is a big event for the stateline area. With all the various venders and people attending it gets the whole town into the Christmas spirit.
