The Election

Emily Wendlandt, reporter

The Belvidere North Theatre department invites you to their newest edition in the “being an outsider” series. First, 16 in Ten Minutes or Less, then Shrek , and now, The Election. This play is a fresh and exciting take on students running for student body president and the outrageous lengths they will have to go to weed out competition.

One thing that separates this play from others is the directors and management under the production. What is normally run by Mrs. Taylor, the theatre director here at North, is now being run by Ms. Smiley, a teacher in the English department. Ms. Smiley actually attended North herself and was even involved in the theatre department back in the day. The play with Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Smiley directing is sure to be in good hands.

“The Election is such a different show and I absolutely love it. The show is hilarious and it’s been so much fun alongside some great friends like Kieran Tado(21’), who plays Mark and Jake Schwenk(21’), who plays Gary. There are never ending laughs in this production,” said by Mckenna Mosher (18’).

Whether you enjoy theatre or not, this play is a fun-loving, comedic joyride, with quirky and outlandish twists that will keep you truly entertained. If you’re planning on seeing the production, showings are April 13th and 14th at 7 and April 15th at 2pm. Tickets are 5 dollars at the door. Hope to see you there!
