The Belvidere North girls volleyball team continued their dominance in the NIC-10 Conference on October 24 by beating the Harlem Huskies two sets to none. The girls ended conference play 18-0 without dropping a set all year.

By winning this game the Blue Thunder were crowned conference champs. The girls now have their minds set on making a run in the upcoming state tournament. Their first regional game will be against the Freeport Pretzels, the game will be at the neutral sight of Rochelle High School.  The Thunder have had no problem with Freeport this year, beating them handley both times they’ve played. After having a tough finish to the season last year, the Thunder have much bigger hopes this year.

̈ We have a great chance heading into the tournament based on the way were practicing and the way we have been playing against good competition,” said Kaitlin Leider (‘22).

Leider, a returning starter, has stepped up this year for her team and has been a huge part of the Thunders recent success. Tournament play has started and the Thunder recently took out the Freeport Pretzels and set their sights on the Rochelle Hubs.

On October 31 the Thunder beat the Hubs to win the schools 2nd regional championship. The Thunder’s next games will be played in Crystal Lake against  Kaneland High School. Kaneland is 29-8 on the year and is ranked 62nd in the state. They defeated Prairie Ridge High School in the regional championship in two sets. Kaneland has some impressive wins on the year by defeating a few highly ranked teams, They have played a lot of close games and usually end up coming out on top. However the Thunder aren’t going to miss a beat and are coming into this game confident and on a few days rest. Come out and support or girls on their road to state.
