The Everest Climb

The Everest Climb

Danny Gomez, Reporter

You should climb the mountain and do it, but it is risky for losing your life. I don’t think some people can’t do it, but if you really want to you shouldn’t give up. A lot of people go and climb because it sits always been their goal. If it was my dream, I would do it, but if it was just for fun Ii wouldn’t do it. All the work you put in to climb the mountain just to climb back down once you get to the top.

Some people have died from the subfreezing temperatures and the high altitude especially after running out of supplemental oxygen and getting caught in storms. Camp 4 to the summit is called the ¨danger zone¨ because of the thin air. Each breath draws less oxygen for the lungs and bloodstream. It costs 30,000 to 10,000 or more to climb it. You waste all that money and might end up dead or really sick. 600 people a year reach the summit and that’s half the number that try to attempt it.  You have to be 18 and really fit and have a lot of money to climb the mountain. In 2014 an avalanche killed 16 sherpas on Mount Everest. then The next year a later 7.8 magnitude earthquakes triggered another avalanche that killed more than 20 climbers. Climbers have gotten frostbite and hypothermia, from the temperatures, thrombosis or embolisms caused by thickening of blood response to high altitude extreme sunburn, and broken bones from falls.

when you die on Mount Everesteverest they leave your body. It takes two2 months to climb the mountain. I wouldn’t do it because you are going to be suffering for two months and you never know if you’re gonna make it to the top. But, if I had had a choice to climb it even for free I wouldn’t do it. Maybe if it was safer and not cold I would, but I feel like you waste two months and waste a lot of money and wasting your life too because you never know if you will make it.
