Ruling My Own Land

Isaac Ochoa, Reporter

I have been put in charge of my very own Island; therefore, my very first decision I’ll make is to build a hospital of some sort because people’s health would be my main priority. I wouldn’t want to have anyone’s life at risk due to people not having anywhere to go if they’re sick. Since my island will be run on democracy people will get to vote for what they want, but I will need to approve of what they want.

What people want is not guaranteed. If I don’t think it’s a good idea. It won’t go through as a law. On the island I will have some type of protection so nothing bad is going on, people are stealing. My law, off the bat, is if a person tries to steal he or she will be punished just in today’s society one will have a couple of choices either return what they took. Or, they will have to do time in prison on my island. There will be jobs provided for the people because not everyone is going to have anything if they were to come to my island. It will be managed right, nothing will affect society because of what will be going on.

Since the island isn’t that big I don’t think cars will be necessary but four-wheelers or dirt bikers will be allowed. I will make a law on how fast one can go, because a four-wheeler and dirt bike doesn’t seem like anything dangerous, but I think they can harm someone if a pedestrian was to get hit by one. The people will have to earn their license by taking a test on the rules of the road and they will have to show that they are good at driving. If one fails they can try again to get it. Therefore my island seems pretty straightforward and I don’t think people will have any problems with following the rules. As well as them being able to say what they want laws or what they want as in a change that should be made on the island.
