Poetry is a way for writers to express feeling, often in broken sentences that tell a story. The poems that are shared are filled with emotions and heartbreaking tales of love and loss. Poetry is a way for writers to have their voice heard. Famous poets have let their emotions bleed into the page, spilled their emotions in word form for the entertainment of others.

One famous poet is E.E. Cummings he  was an American poet, painter, essayist, author, and playwright. He wrote many famous poems, including but not limited to a total stranger one black day, i carry your heart with me, and i shall imagine life.

Another famous poet is Robert Frost he was highly regarded for his realistic depictions of rural life and his command of American colloquial speech.  One of the most famous poems he wrote was The Road Not Taken. It starts out as, “Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both…,”

“There is another sky, Ever serene and fair, And there is another sunshine,” This is the opening few stanzas of Emily Dickinson’s poem There is Another Sky. Dickinson was born and raised Amherst, Massachusetts, and although she lived with a high society family she lived most of her life introverted.

Another famous poet is Edgar Allen Poe, he wrote the poem A Dream Within a Dream. The poems summary goes as: The narrator kisses the listener in parting. He tells the listener that he agrees that his life has been a dream, but he suggests that everything “is but a dream within a dream.” He stands on the shore of the ocean, holding grains of sand as he cries. He cannot keep the sand from running out of his hand, and he wonders if he cannot save even one grain from the surf.” (gradesaver.com)
