As the fall season is coming to an end, so are fall sports for the Thunder.  As a whole, the fall season has been successful for North.

As for football, it was a rollercoaster ride through the whole season.  They won their first game on the road over Jefferson.  After that, the football team lost the next four games to Belvidere, Auburn, Hononegah, and then Harlem.  From there the team was motivated and beat Guilford, East, and Freeport.  This put the team at an even four and four.  The team needed to win five games to qualify for state.  The only school standing in the Thunders path was the Boylan Titans.  North took an early lead when they scored on their opening drive.  After that, Boylan scored 27 unanswered points.  The Thunders final record was four and five which wasn’t their goal for the season, but they still showed strength by winning the three games in a row to put themselves in the playoff hunt.

As for girls swim and dive team, they were looking to win conference and sectionals like they had done the previous two seasons.  So far this season, they have only lost to one team, Boylan.  The team lost, but the team was missing many key swimmers due to illnesses or a chorus concert.  The team will now be preparing for conference and sectionals where they look to reign.

As for cross-country for both boys and girls, the team looked to carry on the North running tradition.  The boys team had a rough start to their season, but were coming on strong on the second half of the season.  Both the boys and girls team walked into conference with confidence.  The teams achieved their goals and brought back a conference title for both girls and boys at all levels.  As for regionals, the boys got second place and the girls took the title.  The team is now preparing for sectionals.

As for girls volleyball, they were in control of the conference almost the entire season.  They were the number one team in conference until the very end when there was a three way tie.  It all came down to the last game of the season against the Boylan Titans.  The Thunder beat the Titans in three games to take the conference title.  As for regionals, the ladies lost to a tough Crystal Lake South.

As for girls and boys golf, the boys golf team finished third in conference as the girls placed fourth in conference.  Key performers for the boys team was Garrett Nelson(‘17), Josh Cassaro(‘17), and Adam Veruchi.  For the girls team, key performers were Mogan McNulty(‘18) and Maddie Sturm(‘17).

Overall, North had a very strong fall sports in terms of placing in conference and are looking to transition the winning into the winter sports season.
