On Nov 11, Belvidere North’s Wrestling team began to compete, and they have been doing well since the season began.

BNHS’s Wrestling team has done well so far in all their meets, putting up a 5-3 record since the start of the season. The team is hopeful that the season will continue to be successful, as mentioned by one of the team members.

“I think that we will be highly ranked because we’ve been good since we started.” said Chris Jarka (19).

So far the team has won matches against Freeport, Boylan, Prairie Ridge, Rockford Lutheran, and Harlem and only lost to Oregon, Marengo and Rockfalls. The team’s last game was close, only losing by three points to Marengo. Since the beginning of the season the team has had a lineup of 15 Varsity members.

On Dec, 28 the wrestling team will be attending another tournament that will take place at the Whitewater Williams Center. In the last tournament, Tyler Demo and Malaky Rodriguez took first place.

Overall, the team seems hopeful that they will make good progress and do good in conference, and their current score seems to reflect their hopes.
