Bates Motel is a show that premiered on A&E on March 18, 2013. It’s a psychological horror drama T.V. show. The show is meant to be a prequel for Psycho, a film that came out in 1960 by Alfred Hitchcock. There are currently four seasons available on Netflix and season five is coming out on February 20 at 10 p.m.

Season one of Bates Motel starts off by introducing Norman, the son and Norma, the mother. Norman runs frantically around the house and freaks out because his mother isn’t answering him. He brings her to the basement and is in tears because the father has died. Six months later they leave that home and Norma purchases a motel that she hopes to renovate. There’s a house right behind the motel for them to live in. The old owner of the motel shows up to their house and he sexually assaults Norma but Norman sees and helps her; Norma kills the man and they have to get rid of the body. Officer Romero is also introduced as well as Norma’s son from her previous marriage. The season ends with Norman slitting the throat of his teacher after she seduced him.

Season two continues all the drama and action from season one. Norman’s old teacher that he killed is being looked for and a lot of things about her are being looked into. Norma does whatever she has to in order to keep the motel running. Dylan, Norma’s son is helping a girl that Norman knows that lost her father. She wants to know why things happened and Dylan finds out that her father was having a relationship with the teacher that Norman killed.

During season three, Norman begins to lose control of himself and he begins to change. Norma is being interrogated by Officer Romero about her husband’s death because he doesn’t believe her. Bradley, the girl that invited him to the party in season one told Norman to run away with her. Norman begins to lose himself and begins believing that he is his mother so he kills her and says that nobody will come between her and her son.

In season four Norman become much worse and his blackouts (when he’s convinced that he’s his mother) are much more frequent. Norma sends him to a mental hospital for treatment and because she doesn’t know how to help him. Norma gets married to Officer Romero in order to get insurance for Norman’s time at the mental hospital. The end of the season concludes by showing how Norman killed his mother in her sleep.

Season five will pick up from last season and will be airing soon. There will be lots of drama and this season is the last one that will be put out. Norman will be living alone and Officer Romero is determined to prove that Norman killed Norma.
