Belvidere North’s girls soccer has surprised the NIC-10 with a 5-0 winning streak in conference with wins against the reigning regional champions, Boylan.  Another 100 minute game with PK’s for the win was within two games of the season, Hononegah and Boylan.  They had a shutout with the other two teams that they played in conference, Auburn they won 7-0 and Belvidere they won 1-0.  The girls then went into OT with the Harlem Huskies on 4/20 to keep their undefeated season in conference.

“We have been extremely successful this year and it’s a lot of fun to play with such close friends”, said Anna Westerberg (‘18).

The weekend of April 13-15 they girls competed in the Antioch Invite which they won.  They beat Beloit Memorial and  Westosha Central, then tied Antioch for the win.  The standings were determined with the point and goals scored; they were able to win by two more goals than Antioch to win the plaque that  can be seen at the trophy case.

The girls have been featured on 13 News for the Hononegah and Belvidere and 23 News for the Auburn game.  Freeport is the other team still undefeated in conference and they play each other on May 4 at home.

“This group of girls are very skilled and we definitely have a good time together; we are a group that has created a great chemistry and have a lot of potential going into the postseason. ” said Laurel Burke (‘17).

The girls plan to face two more important conference games, Jefferson and Guilford.  They are hopeful with the rest of the season and feel that it looks promising.
