Whether it’s the return of everyone’s favorite pirate or a new twist on a popular superhero, summer 2017 is promising in terms of new films. This year, so far, there have been a lot of big premieres and this summer, there are even more to add to the list.

Superhero movies should get there own genre, mostly because of the large number that gets added to the list every year. Marvel and DC Comics will be fighting over critic’s approval with films such as Spiderman: Homecoming, Wonder Woman, and, the already released, Guardians of the Galaxy. The anticipated Marvel reboot, Spiderman: Homecoming stars Tom Holland who plays high schooler and famous web-slinger Peter Parker.

Some popular movie series get a new addition this summer as well. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Alien: Covenant, War for the Planet of the Apes, Transformers: The Last Knight, Cars 3, Despicable Me 3, Annabelle: Creation, and Amityville: The Awakening. The new Pirates of the Caribbean movie stars Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, once again, who is the target of a vengeful group of ghost sailors. So whether it’s horror, action, or comedy, audiences can look forward to seeing their favorite movie series’ continue.

Movie-goers this summer can also look forward to a new wave of films. Baywatch, The Mummy, Baby Driver, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Snatched, The House, Everything, Everything, and Dunkirk can all be added to the list of most anticipated movies of the summer. Baywatch is set to release at the end of May and stars Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson as lifeguards who go undercover in order to save the bay.

The summer movie season has already started and even if the weather is warm outside, everyone will find themselves in the theater, at least once, to watch a new film.
