On Friday, December 1, Belvidere North’s DECA chapter travels to Omaha, Nebraska for the Central Region Leadership Conference (CRLC). North’s DECA chapter has gone on this trip year after year, with recent conferences occurring in Kansas City and Indianapolis.

This trip is not like all the others. DECA members usually compete at conferences with different events and assignments. CRLC is very special due to the laid back atmosphere and informative/entertaining sessions on leadership or skills for the real world. DECA members who have gone to past trips cannot wait to head back.

“Every year is great and I always learn something while having a fun weekend,” said Michael Gill (‘18).

The theme for this conference is “Ignite.” The conference and whole weekend is meant to “Ignite” leadership and confidence in one’s skills in business or communication. Each member gets to pick different sessions throughout Saturday morning and afternoon filled with business leaders or pure entertainers. DECA members come to this weekend trip for these conferences, but to also experience a whole city for a weekend.

“Omaha is a completely different place from Belvidere, and I love going to new places like this to get a view of what the city has to offer,” said Gill (‘18).

This trip is from Friday, December 1 to Sunday, December 3. Here is some quick info in case DECA members are reading this.

  • Arrive at the school by 6:45 (Bus leaves at 7)
  • Bring your own money for food and souvenirs you want
  • This conference is business casual attire for the sessions (Sweaters, polos, khakis, loafers)
  • NO JEANS can be worn at sessions, around town is fine
  • We will be taking a coach bus
  • Room assignments have already been given out
  • Behave properly (You are representing our school, chapter and yourself)

It should be another great time at CRLC in Omaha this year. North’s DECA chapter hopes to “Ignite” itself with an informative and enjoyable weekend.
