Crosstown Game

This past weekend at Belvidere North the boys basketball team played against Belvidere for their crosstown game. Just like football the crosstown games are always the ones the players and students look forward too.

The game was a very close game at the end with North winning 63-62. Belvidere North hosted six rival games that day starting with the freshman girls and finishing with the varsity boys. It was good to see the students coming out to support both teams.

“The crosstown game is one of the most exciting games of the year and I was happy to see all of the students that came out and cheered us on so we could get the win,” said Sebastian Gutierrez (18).

Both teams put up a good fight, North was down in the first half going into halftime but they never gave up and came out strong in the third quarter. North managed a 10 point lead going into the fourth quarter. John Carlson put up 16 points for the team and was a key defensive player.

North had a 14 point lead with under two minutes in the game when the Bucs took advantage of North’s substitutions and closed the game strong. In the end, the Blue Thunder was able to hold on for the crosstown victory.
