North Volleyball

Holden Paddock, reporter

Belvidere North’s varsity volleyball team has done nothing but prove that they are one of the top teams in the NIC-10 and Northern Illinois. Amanda Carlson, Belvidere North’s head coach,  pushes the girls to their full potential and it’s paying off. During the off season the girls worked on strength, agility, flexibility, and endurance. With their hard work they are once again favorites to win the NIC-10.

North is currently 11-2 overall and in conference they are 7-0 which puts them in first place.  They have some competition with Hononegah who is currently in 2nd place and 6-0. North hasn’t had much competition yet in conference but September 19 at 7:00 PM they take on Hononegah at home.

This years starters are Kaitlyn Leider (’22) , Jayden Flynn (’22) , Rachael Scott (’22), Ava Irvin (’22) , Ella Ruder (’20) , and Madison Clark, (’21). Belvidere North has a very young team, but many experienced and skilled seniors. North has some big shoes to fill with the graduation of key players, Brookelyn Messengers and Peyton Sewell. A key to North this  year are Leider, verbally committed to Bradley University and Scott, a verbal commit to Indiana University.

As long as the girls keep playing team volleyball and attacking each game like it’s their last they should continue to demolish the conference. Overall the Belvidere North Girls Volleyball team has high expectations from everyone and the support they deserve.
