Belvidere North proved how dominant they really were this last week. They improved their conference record to a very impressive 10-0. Going into the Hononegah game the players and everyone around the conference know that it was the biggest game up to this point. In game one North won 27-25. Game two was another close  match with North winning 25-23. Rachel Scott(’22) had the game winning hit which gave North the win.

“There is definitely some pressure going into those big matches in the NIC-10. Being that I am only a sophomore, I have to play for my team and be able to make my teammates jobs easier. Going against Hono is where the most pressure comes because it’s one of our toughest games of the year. But being on the court with other sophomores and upperclassmen makes it easier in being able to work together and make me play my best without that much pressure,” said Kaitlyn Lieder (‘22).

Considering Hononegah is a much larger school and has close to 800 more students, North was able to knock them off. North volleyball is currently ranked 42nd in the state of Illinois and moving up in the rankings weekly. They had a tournament over the weekend and they won the championship going 5-0. They didn’t lose a single set the whole tournament and looked very dominant. On September 24, North won their home game against Harlem in two sets. Winning the first one 25-8 and the second 25-11.

North also had another home game on September 25 against Guilford. They won in  two sets with a 25-13 and a 25-17. North has an away conference match against Freeport on Monday, September 30 at 7pm. Although Freeport has only won one game this whole year, the players and coaches at North are taking it one game at a time so they don’t underestimate anyone.

With the postseason approaching they are trying to be playing their best volleyball up to this point. Once again North looks to hoist the NIC-10 Championship Trophy at the end of the season.
