The JV boys basketball team is showing that there is a bright future for the program.  They have performed at a high level all season long, as they are 10-3 on the season, and are 6-3 in conference play.

The team has Tyler Parod, the only freshman on the team, in it’s starting lineup.

“It’s been an awesome experience,” said Parod, “The older players have really accepted me, and they’ve really made me feel like I’m a part of the team.”

The team has done well in conference play, falling twice to one of the top teams in the conference in Auburn.  The team also lost a close game against Freeport on Jan. 6, falling 45-41.

“As a team, we’ve played some very tight games,” said Marco Yates (‘18), “with us winning those close games, it’s only helped our confidence moving forward in the season.  When we’re playing our best, there isn’t a team out there that can beat us.”

The team has a difficult next three games, as they take on Boylan Jan. 27, Hononegah Jan 29, and Belvidere on Feb. 3.

“We’re going to have to be on our game for these next couple games,” said Yates, “but our team is definitely up for the challenge.”
